Rocky Road!

I was very excited after self publishing my A Day Without Words short story to Smashwords and Amazon. I had labored for days on trying to get the correct formatting that each site required. Amazon was a bit easier, since I was able to convert the book myself and then upload it to there site. When I check on it I was pleased and if it hadn't been for yet another typo escaping my leer, I would have been done with Amazon. I corrected the typo and re-submitted it- done! Smashwords was a much different monster. They run the original Word document through a converter that spits out the story in several formats, which is great because it allows reader to use Kindle, Nook or even their computer to read the story. Unfortunately, the converter they use is very picky and gives errors if you didn't follow the style guide. Having followed the guide, I was very shocked to see that I had errors, but I was excited and ready to correct them. Some of the issues were very odd, such as bold type when I had no bold type included. It took several days of doing and redoing the document. A major issue is that you have to have it completely published before you can actually preview how the story looks, so the process can take a long time.
I'm happy to say that I believe all the issues have been resolved (knock on wood) and that even the typos have been fixed... dare I dream. Both outlets are now linked to my web site's store:
